Early Morning in Lima
It´s 4 am here and I´m going on fumes right ow, but at least I´m in Peru. The flight down was long, but nice. I enjoyed visiting with the guy across the aisle who had grown up down here and was visiting for the first time in six years. We got in on time and I went to Miraflores and prowled around the own for awhile. I even ran into girl working at a restaurant I´d met on my last trip. We viasited for awhile while I got something to drink.
With only a few hours to kill, there simply wasn´t time to get any sleep before heading to the airport (where I am now). I watched some American TV shows and headed back here.
One fun thing was realizing I was answering questions in Spanish that were asked in English! Even more interesting was giving firections in Spanish to the taxi-driver who didn´t speak English. It makes me feel like I{m pretty well able to get around here now.
In about 2 hours my flight leaves for Iquitos where itll be hot and humid even at 8 am, but at least there´s a comfortable bed waiting for me when I get there for a few hours´ sleep before heading out.
As always, the Peruvian people have been incredibly friendly to this gringo visiting their country.
