Food in Peru

I´m not sure, but I am losing weight. As much food as we´ve had, it´s prety hard to believe. The portions are amazing -- and this will shock those of you who know how picky I am -- and I´ve been quite adventurous in my choices.

So far I´ve eaten lot of stuff that I don´t recognize at all. One of my favorites is the national dish here -- ceviche. Basically, it´s raw fish in a spicy lemon sauce. The lemon "actually" cooks the fish in a way that makes it edible. The taste is really great. I´ve had lot of fruit drinks made form strange fruits as well as milanesa which is my favorites way to eat fried foods. (Thinly cutportions of beef or chicken covered with a spicy breading.)

I´ve had only one coca cola the entire time I´ve been here. That certainly has a lot to do with my weight loss, especially considering we go out for desert every night. (LOTS of ice cream!)

The people here in the jungle eat a lot of white rice which is pretty tasteless to me, but you can find brown rice that is delicious. The heart of palm salads are pretty good, too. Of course, nothing tastes better than a tall frozen lemonade when the temperature is 90 and the humidity is about 70%.
